Alas, those days and the station are gone but the music still lives on through shows like Planet Prog. Keep up the good work.

Arman Padaryan   01/Aug/2001:12:10:02
Hi Mark and Karen!

Fancy cool progressive rock from Armenia?
I presume you never heard of "System of a Down" and "Granian." They are
just heavy and, to me, noizy.
Definitely not progressive, but Armenian.

ARTSRUNI is a comparatively new band organized in Yerevan by a group of
experienced musicians. This is Art.

MUSIC DONE in DANGER and STRONG FAITH. What's the answer? ARTSRUNI
(Armenia). Progressive, ethnic and representing mentality of one of the
most archaic nations of the world ARTSRUNI is just another lost
universe of music.
Lost and Found.

To me ARTSRUNI have a slight touch of Jethro Toe. At least flute
matters in the sound they produce. What else? Duduk! A national
Armenian discovery is not yet presented in the line up, but as Vahan
(the group founder, a.k.a ARTSRUNI) says it IS possible, since another
his project with Chamber Orchestra HAS this uniquely sad pipe in.
Mediaeval Armenian melodies and fresh sound of flute, elegant guitars,
solid bass and drums

Great Site! As keyboard player for LIFT (USA) almost thirty years ago,
I was astounded to find our name as well as positive reviews of
our "Caverns" CD. Thank to Greg Walker at Syn-Phonic for releasing the
material.

LIFT relocated to Atlanta in 1975, experienced a personnel change and
went on to produce its own very ditinctive style of Prog music until
its demise in 1979. One of the "Atlanta" tracks "Perspectives" was
featured as the opening track for Synphonic's "Past, Present and Future
anthology album. While the later material is less energetic it is far
more mature and establised LIFT as a band with its own unique style.

I'm working with Mike Mitchell from the Atlanta lineup to recapture
some of the more noteworthy LIFT material as well as compose new music.
We also each have composed solo material over the interum years. We
hope to have an MP3 site up by late summer. Those "needing" LIFT music
can contact me at cgremillion@realshowcase.com

I would like to thank

I first stumbled upon the import show probally about 1983. it was
monday night at midnight which I listened and taped religously even
though I had to get up at 6am. I shopped at Total Eclipse records
which also sponsered the show. I still have every prog record i bought
and still have the tapes of the show. Being a huge music lover i was
amazed at how much talent was out there beyond the waste of mainstream
music. Listening to Eloy, Pcock, Marillion and countless others in my
headphones at midnight was indescriable. The import show is definately
what got me into playing keyboards/synths. Thanks Mark for putting on a
great show for a such a long time, keep it up. JR

Kudos to your web site!!! It's great!! You have got to check out this
prog-band that I just found, this Cd is apparently a re-release from an
album they did in the 70's on Epic Records. Rewind Records/Sony Music
re-released this self title CD and it is truly awesome. The record
company lists their web site as: www.songhausmusic.com. Check this
band out!

I listen to you via the internet here in Apex, in the heart of North

a missing show for her archives) and she may have mentioned to you that
i download the shows and listen whilst jogging.

Just wanted to let you know personally how much i enjoy the show, and
eagerly await each week's new musical journey. The interviews are also
a wonderfully welcome treat. You've introduced me to a lot of
great music i'd never have heard otherwise, and helped to rekindle my

Mark,

Please help support Fates Warning's upcoming U.S. tour in support of
their latest album, "Disconnected." They will be in Aurora, IL at
Riley's Rock House on November 12, and in Madison November 13 at the
Attic. Also, please play something from "Disconnected" to prove to the
listeners who the superiour progressive hard rock/metal band is! I
recommend the 16-minute track "Still Remains," which crossfades into
"Disconnected Part 2" (they sound great together!)

Thanks!

Request for LPs to be played on the Nov 5th show:

There's an old album by Duncan Mackay called "Score." I heard a cut
from it about 20 years ago and there was one piece with some pretty good
piano work on it. I've been trying to find this album for years and
haven't ever seen it. If you could play it on your show I could at
least tape it (or part of it). Let me know...

thx

One day we'll no doubt move in this direction with Audion Magazine, if
we ever work out how to do it. Yes, Audion is still around. e-mail us
for a catalogue of issues, and request the Ultima Thule mail-order
catalogue!

Hi there,

Let me introduce myself.
My name is Henk Kikkert and I'm doing a radio program called "Spectrum"
at the dutch radio station "Tsarina FM".
The music played in "Spectrum" is mainly progressive/symphonic rock
with some related types of music.
If you want airplay at this program, please contact me.
Every new album will receive extra airplay, about 1/4 of the album will
be broadcasted, to give the listeners a good view of what the album is
like.

I hope to hear from you,

All the best,
Henk Kikkert, Spectrum, Tsarina FM

Dear Mark,

I must commend you on your show and web site. I'm also glad that you
are on the internet to be heard. I do miss the music scene in
Milwaukee though since I moved out to Colorado, where all they know is
Bruce Cockburn, Phish, and the String Cheese Incident. Keep up the
good work, with airing the music and bringing good live music to
Milwaukee!
